We know that your school prom is a unique experience. It’s one of the first
occasions you and your friends will get together to look glamorous and have fun.
It’s also an emotional time as for many students; it marks the end of your
school years.
The importance of the school prom should not be underestimated,
for many students it represents an end to their school life and the opportunity
to celebrate their achievements and friendships.
School proms have become absolutely massive in the UK and most schools now realise the importance of organising a prom. However, your school will focus on your schooling and therefore most proms are organised by students. We hope that this site will enable you to successfully organise and enjoy your own event.
We want to help you organise an event that you'll talk about for years to come.
I've organised events for the past 15 years and so I offered Charlie my
services, to which she flatly refused (refused in the way which I knew meant
she'd rather tidy her bedroom for a whole year- than have me helping).
Her
friends were already organising the event and she didn't need me to help. The
prom was a fantastic success, despite the venue being changed, the limo being
late, Charlie had a memorable time and has talked about it ever since.
However, I can honestly say that for weeks she did not have a clue what was
happening about the venue (and you can imagine, I kept asking her to find out,
but never did get to the bottom of that mystery) and trying to get her a dress
was every mothers nightmare.
Whilst she looked simply stunning (biased mother!)
had she taken more time to plan this event she would have found the dress,
shoes, nails, hair etc etc that she really wanted.
Part of the "problem" was her exams and yes, they DO come first. The second
part of the problem is that there wasn't just one place to go for all her prom
needs.
Now, it would have been easy for me to step in and take over, but instead I
let her organise herself. Our time was really limited so we spent one day
searching for the dress, after making numerous telephone calls to shops to make
appointments.
We managed to find co-ordinating jewellery and hair accessories
in two different shops but had an absolute nightmare finding shoes ( we had an
exchange in one shop and in another I nearly lost the plot!) to match the
dress. We came home exhausted (but still friends)and with no shoes.
My friends had warned me , they all have older daughters. It was a lot of
pressure on a girl who is still in the middle of her exams and needs to make the
right choices(especially with my credit card) If you've got loads of time and a
huge budget for the "whole look" then it's probably easier, but most girls are
in the same position.
Secondly, Charlie hadn't even considered having her nails or hair professionally
done. She's normally just "a bit of mascara and hair straightners and out". I
knew that she would look beautiful and had expected her to want to make a
special effort but nothing "too girly"
So, can you imagine my horror when she
informed me on the morning of the prom that she needed me home from work early
to "transform her" curl her hair, full make-up and false nails. It had suddenly
dawned on her that all the other girls had gone to this effort and this was a
BIG day!
Two hours later, she looked really amazing and I needed a big glass of
wine!
This was our first "prom" experience and I'm glad that she did
things her way. However, it really could have been so much easier and so much
more fun.
So the message behind this story is simple, take a look at this site and you
really will have the most wonderful prom night. You deserve to have a lovely
evening without giving your mum a headache!!

SCHOOL PROM NEWS Picture the scene, handsome young men in smart tuxedos step out of stretch
limousines. Groups of beautiful girls with flowing ball gowns, styled hair, dazzling jewellery and perfect nails. Hollywood glamour, the camera flashes as you walk the red carpet
– it could be Oscar’s night! The stars
of the evening are the school-leavers celebrating the end of
their exams
"Proms are becoming a bigger and bigger across the UK. The glitzy
approach is great for school-leavers and good business for prom gowns, suit
hire, hairdressers, florists, beauty parlours and limousine companies who are
finding themselves unable to cope with the level of demand “ said Anita of thebestschoolprom.co.uk
